healthy diet
covering the Dietary guidelines, carbohydrate, dietary fats and protein,
fruit and vegetable intake, and calculating caloric intake and the
energy of food.
Hydration and
sports including dehydration and fluid levels, fluids to use in sports,
professional hydration fluids, fluid temperature and influence on
performance.
Hydration
techniques and testing and measures of Hydration looking at the
night before, day of the event, during the event, after the event,
estimating body fluid loss via sweat and self-testing procedures.
Body temperature
covering cooling strategies and the use of ice-jackets in sport.
Fuelling and
food covering sports specific functions of carbohydrates, simple sugars
and sport, the glycaemic index, glycaemic load and energy fluctuations,
nutrient requirements and timing of intake, blood sugar balance and
energy flow, starch, fibre, glycogen and complex carbohydrates and fats
and the sporting diet.
Protein for
energy section looks at the functions of protein and relevance in sport,
maintaining your fat free mass to improve energy production, timing and
